Crete is the largest and most southern of the Greek Islands and has a population of around 540,000. The island is approximately 250km long and 56km wide and is reported to enjoy more than 300 day’s of sunshine each year. The deepest part of the Mediterranean Sea (16,500ft) lies just off the Southwest coast of the island. Rich in history and culture, the island provides an unforgettable experience.

The Island of Crete has a natural and rugged beauty; its landscape includes steep narrow gorges, fertile green plains, snow-capped mountains, golden beaches and secluded coves. The land is rich in wildlife and flowers and is home to a variety of birds including the griffin vulture one of the most common in Crete.

The main industries of Crete are the tourist trade and the processing and marketing of olive oil. Buses form the only public transport on the Island and they are operated by a group of companies known as K-Tel. The fares are inexpensive and the service reliable.

Crime in Crete is not a great problem, visitors should be vigilant, as they would be in there own country. Drinking from tap water is safe in most places although it is recommended that you use bottled water where available.

There are Hospitals in the main towns as well as Clinics and medical centres, you can see the information above.

There are three small Traditional Tavernas serving excellent food and wine, which are situated a short distance from the Villas.

Crete is a lovely Island in which to purchase property whether it be for a holiday or permanent residence.
